My research has a dual focus. The first area of investigation involves applying the science of learning to educational settings including the clinical environment. This involves studying cutting edge pedagogy, use of technology in teaching, feedback and cognitive apprenticeships as well as the role of assessment in documenting professional competencies. The latest project is the development of competencies and curriculum in the RESPOND grant focusing on global health. The second area is focusing on faculty and their development as teachers and researchers. Current project involves measuring the effectiveness of mutual mentoring as a new model to prepare faculty for working in a global technologically connected environment.
