The Intimacy of Memory: The Art of Loss, Love and Remembrance (IM) is designed to support individual healing and to promote conversation on grief, loss and memory. IM is unique because it approaches the subject of grief using art as a central connector and concludes, when possible, with a public art exhibition and community-wide dialogue.
IM workshops invite participants to make a piece of art based on objects they kept after a loss. The objects provide a starting point for their work. For some, their painting is a marker and celebration of the person they are honoring. For others, the art reflects the complexity of a relationship and allows for the non-verbal expression of strong emotions.
