Research synopsis
My laboratory's scientific research interests include basic biology of aging as it is related to immune and inflammatory responses, the role of nutrition in the aging process and age-associated diseases, and the impact of nutrition on immune response and resistance to infectious diseases in developed and developing countries. In particular, we have conducted studies using micronutrients, dietary lipids, calorie restriction, and probiotics. My laboratory utilizes cellular and molecular techniques as well as different animal models, randomized clinical trials, and observational field studies to address the above research interests.
