As a professional pursuing an MS in Health Informatics and Analytics at Tufts, you may find that you can begin applying what you learn in the program in real time. Meet Caroline Blackie, HIA22, who is leveraging what she learned to support her team.

Why did you choose to pursue this degree?
"I am always looking for ways to grow. More and more, med tech innovation requires an understanding of informatics and analytics. I felt this was a gap for me and this degree was a perfect match to fill that gap."

What has your experience it the HIA program been like so far?
"The program has challenged and surprised me at every stage. When I started, I envisioned that I would complete the program and then figure out how to apply the learnings in a future career shift. However, I have been able to apply the learnings from the program at work in real time, throughout the journey. It has been a tremendously positive experience."

What is your favorite aspect about the program?
"The program for me has been a perfect combination of consistent exposure to real world applications, internal and external subject matter expertise, and the relentless growth mindset of the faculty. I have loved it!"

What has been your proudest accomplishment while being in the program?
"My personal accomplishment is completing the program, delivering against the needs of my job, and attending to my core commitment, my beautiful family. It has been an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience."

What do you wish to accomplish upon graduation?
"I plan to keep doing what I am doing but to continue getting better at it. With the skills and language that I have learned in the HIA program, I am better equipped to support my team, drive innovation inspired by patient need, and shape solutions beyond the traditional concept of 'product.'"

What do you want a prospective student to know about Tufts?
"One of my favorite sayings is that 'the grass is greener where you water it.' My experience of Tufts is that it is an especially fertile environment for growth. The HIA program was a phenomenal blend of exposure to external and internal expertise. It has been an absolute privilege to be here."
