Legionella pneumophila is an environmental facultative pathogen that can cause severe lung disease in humans upon inhalation of contaminated water droplets. A prerequisite for transmission from environmental sources is L. pneumophila`s ability to persist in natural and man-made water reservoirs. I aim to uncover the traits and mechanisms driving this persistent phenotype of the bacterium. I am supported by a fellowship from DFG.
