The Camilla Bessey Thompson and Paul D. Thompson, M.D., Clinical Skills and Simulation Center at Tufts University School of Medicine is a 15,000-square-foot training facility located in the heart of downtown Boston. The Thompson Sim Center is a critical part of Tufts’ Health Sciences campus and brings together state-of-the-art tools and technology and the best thinking in medical education. It offers a full suite of spaces and features designed to further enhance the student experience:
- 50-person classroom
- 16 clinical exam rooms, 8 with retractable glass walls to enlarge the spaces
- Write-up stations outside every exam room
- 4 simulation spaces
- Just-In-Time procedural and skills space, with off hours access for students
- Debrief, conference, and skills spaces
- 3 observation/monitoring rooms
- 4 surgical scrub sinks
- A lounge for standardized patient actors
- Offices for the Educational Affairs staff who support the facility
- Extensive audiovisual capabilities throughout
- Designed to provide flexible, multi-use spaces, with organized zones for simulation, exam rooms and administrative support

Simulation-based medical education ensures that today’s medical students gain real-time exposure and hands-on experience in a wider, more diverse range of scenarios—all in a safe environment designed for better learning.
