Helping Shape the Future of Academic Medicine

Laura Baecher-Lind, MD, MPH, Dean of Educational Affairs at Tufts University School of Medicine, has been appointed to a three-year term on the editorial board of Academic Medicine, a leading journal shaping national and global conversations in medical education.

Published by the Association of American Medical Colleges, Academic Medicine plays a central role in advancing scholarship on how physicians are trained, how academic health systems evolve, and how policy influences both. Editorial board members advise the editor on trends across academic medicine, including health and science policy, education and training, research practice, and clinical care in academic settings. They also review submissions, help solicit new content, and provide guidance on journal policies and practices.

Dr. Baecher-Lind brings extensive experience to the role, with a career spanning medical education leadership, research, and scholarly writing. She has served as a reviewer for Academic Medicine for several years and has been recognized for her contributions with the journal’s Top Reviewer Award in both 2021 and 2025.

At Tufts, Dr. Baecher-Lind has led initiatives to strengthen curriculum innovation, faculty development, and the overall educational experience for medical students. Her new role with Academic Medicine extends that work onto a broader stage, contributing to the national dialogue on the future of medical education.
