Jennifer Jordan
Research/Areas of Interest
Dr. Jordan has a variety of research interests, including:
-Improving early physical therapy and functional outcomes for patients with critical illness
-Development of strategies and devices to improve strength and physical function for individuals who are bed-bound
-Adaptive climbing as an integrated clinical education program; assessing perceptions, participant outcomes, student learning
-Cardiovascular function in rock climbers

Biography
Dr. Jennifer Jordan, a Board Certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Specialist (CCS), hails from the vibrant Seattle area. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Washington State University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Eastern Washington University. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor and core faculty member at Tufts DPT - Seattle.
Dr. Jordan's passion lies in hospital-based physical therapy, with a particular focus on patients with critical illness. Her clinical and research work, primarily conducted at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA, revolves around this area of practice. She is dedicated to early physical therapy intervention in hospitals, aiming to enhance patient outcomes following significant illness or injury.
An advocate for the physical therapy profession, Dr. Jordan has held numerous volunteer positions with the American Physical Therapy Association. She served a decade-long tenure on the Washington delegation to the APTA House of Delegates, including four years as Washington's Chief Delegate. Currently, she is a member of the APTA Reference Committee, assisting motion makers in refining their language for the House of Delegates. Her service extends to the state level, with roles on the APTA WA Nominating Committee, APTA WA Education Committee, and the APTA WA Legislative Committee. In recognition of her exceptional contributions and leadership in the field, she was honored as the Physical Therapist of the Year in 2020 by the APTA Washington.
As the primary instructor for the Cardiopulmonary and Management of the Medically Complex Patients courses at Tufts DPT Seattle, Dr. Jordan brings her enthusiasm into the classroom. With several years of teaching experience at Eastern Washington University's DPT program, she is committed to fostering an engaging learning environment, promoting critical thinking, and shaping the future generation of clinicians. Her passion for her profession and dedication to her students are the driving forces behind her work.
