Employer Connections
Make Your Next Career Move a Human Connection
Employer Connections is a personalized career support service offered by Tufts University School of Medicine Graduate Programs Career Services, currently available to Physician Assistant (PA) and Public Health (MPH) students. The service helps students move beyond online applications through targeted employer outreach and strategic introductions.
Career Services works with you to strengthen your professional story, prepare for interviews, and connect with employers aligned with your career goals.
A more intentional approach to your job search
Applying to more jobs does not always lead to better results. In a competitive hiring landscape increasingly shaped by AI and automated screening, meaningful professional connections can help you stand out.
Employer Connections helps you focus your search, communicate your strengths, and pursue opportunities through direct employer outreach. Along the way, you'll build skills to engage your professional network and make connections that can support your career throughout your professional life.
Why Employer Connections works
Career Services is rethinking traditional job-search support to better serve our students in today's competitive hiring market. We believe Employer Connections offers a stronger approach because it addresses some of the biggest challenges job seekers face today:
- Human connections matter. Meaningful conversations with employers can help candidates stand out in an increasingly automated hiring landscape.
- Personalized advocacy. Career Services strengthens each student's professional story and advocates for their candidacy directly with employers.
- A more focused job search. Students learn to prioritize promising opportunities, communicate their value, and build relationships that support their career goals.
- A Tufts advantage. Employer Connections demonstrates our commitment to innovative, hands-on career support that helps students turn their education and experience into meaningful opportunities.
How Employer Connections works
- Identify your goals
- Complete an onboarding form outlining career interests, target roles, preferred employers, and professional goals.
- Strengthen your professional story
- Career Services helps refine resumes, LinkedIn profiles, references, and the experiences and skills that set each candidate apart.
- Prepare to make an impression
- Participate in career coaching and a mock interview to practice communicating qualifications, interests, and value to employers.
- Connect with employers
- The Employer Relations team reaches out to up to three target employers on each candidate’s behalf, advocating for their candidacy and exploring opportunities to connect.
- Take the next step
- When an employer expresses interest, Career Services facilitates an introduction, resume referral, or conversation, as appropriate. Candidates then continue the process directly with the employer and share relevant updates with Career Services.
