Ameer Shah, A07, M13

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University with degrees in Spanish and Biomedical Engineering, Ameer Shah attended Boston University School of Medicine, earning his Master's degree in Medical Science, with a thesis on MRI technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Shah then went on to earn his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, graduating at the top of his class as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his residency training at Tufts Medical Center in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Shah is an assistant professor of otolaryngology at Tufts University School of Medicine 

Shah has earned many awards and recognitions throughout his training and is published in multiple journals and textbooks. He is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award from Tufts School of Medicine. He has a special interest in medical education and giving back to his medical school. As assistant professor of otolaryngology, Shah is the clerkship director for the third and fourth year medical student Community Otolaryngology rotation. He serves as faculty in the Dr. Elie R. Rebeiz Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and trains Otolaryngology residents at Tufts Medical Center. Shah currently serves as the Vice President of the Tufts University School of Medicine Alumni Association, and is heavily involved with medical student outreach and mentoring. His medical interests include head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, obstructive sleep apnea, and pediatric ENT. He started the Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation Implant Program at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea and serves as the Director. 

Shah has always been interested in serving the community he grew up in, but has also dedicated a portion of his medical practice to charity work in underserved locations throughout the world. Shah has volunteered at children's medical camps in Mumbai, India and HIV clinics in Santiago, Chile. He currently serves as an attending surgeon on a mission trip performing thyroid surgery for endemic goiters in Kigali, Rwanda. In addition to performing these surgeries, he teaches the local surgeons, medical students and residents. Shah currently practices at ENT Specialists, Inc, in Brockton, MA.
