Megan Li’s Journey from Tufts MBS to Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
“The MBS program was the perfect bridge for me, providing not only academic preparation but also the confidence I needed to pursue my dream of becoming a physician.”

Meet Megan Li, a Tufts MBS program alum and future obstetrics and gynecology resident. On Match Day, March 21, 2025, Li found out where she would be heading for her residency after medical school: Tufts, which was was her top choice. Her path to this achievement wasn’t straightforward, but it was shaped by perseverance, a strong academic foundation, and a commitment to making a difference in the world of healthcare.
Li’s undergraduate years were challenging, and she knew she needed additional preparation to succeed in medical school. That’s when she found the Tufts MBS program – a transformative opportunity designed to strengthen students' academic backgrounds and prepare them for the rigor of medical and dental school.
“Undergrad was really difficult for me, and I wanted a program that would enhance my academic background and make me a more confident candidate for medical school applications,” she explains.
After speaking with peers who had completed the program and hearing their success stories, Li knew Tufts was the right place for her. She was drawn to Tufts not only for its academic rigor but also for its focus on addressing healthcare access, a cause she feels strongly about.
“Now more than ever, it’s important to talk about healthcare access. I think that’s at the forefront of this program, and it really resonated with me,” she says.
The MBS program not only provided her with critical academic preparation but also instilled greater confidence in her abilities. Li appreciated the supportive Tufts community and the faculty who went beyond just teaching coursework; they helped guide her toward her ultimate goal of becoming a physician.
“The professors were amazing," she shares. "They didn’t just support us through the coursework, but really helped us navigate our journey beyond the program. They were dedicated to helping us succeed whether it was medical school, dental school, or whatever our final destination was.”
As Li embarks on her residency journey, she remains deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities and becoming a physician advocate. Her story is a testament to the power of preparation, hard work, and a strong support system. Li’s journey shows that the road to success may not always be linear, but with determination and the right opportunities, it's possible to make your dreams a reality.
“I’m excited to be challenged in residency and to use the skills I’ve gained as a physician advocate to help address healthcare disparities and make a real difference for my patients.”
