Is an MPH Right for You? What to Consider Before the April 15 Application Deadline
Thinking about an MPH? Learn what to consider—from curriculum and career preparation to application readiness—before the April 15 deadline.
Choosing to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) requires reflection, preparation, and clarity about your goals. With the Tufts MPH April 15 application deadline approaching, this is an important moment for prospective students to assess program fit, readiness, and the application process—so you can move forward with confidence and intention.
How do I know if an MPH is right for me?
An MPH is a great fit for students who want to improve population health, strengthen health systems, and apply interdisciplinary skills across healthcare, nonprofit, research, and community settings. Successful MPH students are often drawn to applied learning, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.
As you explore MPH programs, it’s important to consider both program format and financing your degree. Tufts offers flexible MPH options—including on-campus, online, and accelerated one-year formats—allowing students to choose a pathway that fits their goals, learning style, and schedule.
Financial planning is also an important part of the decision. The Tufts MPH program requires 42 credits, with tuition set at $2,000 per credit for the 2025-2026 academic year (updated tuition rates for the 2026-2027 academic year will take effect in July 2026).
To support accessibility, all admitted students to the standalone MPH program receive an automatic 25% tuition scholarship, with additional merit- and need-based funding opportunities available.
