Biography

Dr. Gilani is a Biostatistician, and his research focuses on methodological development in spatial and spatiotemporal statistics (e.g., air pollution modeling) with applications in environmental epidemiology. Recently, he has also been developing methods and tools for modeling human mobility. In his applied work, he collaborates with researchers across various disciplines including clinicians, epidemiologists, biologists, and psychologists.

Prior to joining Tufts University, Dr. Gilani was an Associate Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at Bucknell University. He received his PhD in Biostatistics from Yale University and postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in the Departments of Biostatistics and Environmental Health Sciences. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, hiking, cycling, and skiing. He is a big fan of the Arsenal football club, and like most Pakistanis he loves eating mangoes.
