About SPARCC-PT

SPARCC-PT

Access to professional networks and early career experiences can empower students to achieve their college and professional goals. SPARCC-PT helps close the college and career gap by creating an accessible, student-centered pathway into physical therapy.

Developed through Tufts University School of Medicine, the program brings high school students together with physical therapists, faculty, researchers, and trainees. Students explore the profession in welcoming environments where questions are encouraged and lived experiences are valued.

SPARCC-PT

Our goals

  • Increase awareness of physical therapy and the range of careers within the profession.
  • Expand access to mentorship, clinical exposure, and research experiences.
  • Support students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in physical therapy.
  • Help students develop confidence, community, and actionable education plans.
  • Strengthen relationships among Tufts, physical therapy professionals, and local schools.

What makes the program different

  • Student-centered: Experiences begin with students’ questions, interests, strengths, and goals.
  • Experiential: Students learn through clinical simulation, site visits, conversations, and applied activities.
  • Mentored: Sustained relationships provide encouragement and practical navigation.
  • Connected: Students encounter multiple settings, specialties, and roles across physical therapy.
