We are thrilled to welcome you to the Tufts DPT-Atlanta Family! It is truly our privilege to support you as you begin the exciting journey toward becoming a physical therapist and, ultimately, a future colleague in our profession.

Before long, you will proudly carry the title of SPT (Student Physical Therapist) and become part of a community dedicated to improving the health and well-being of others. We are excited that you have chosen this path and look forward to watching you grow, learn, and develop into a compassionate and skilled physical therapist.

The information below has been carefully compiled to help you prepare for your transition into the program and ensure a smooth start. Please take time to review it thoroughly, as it contains important details to support your success.

Tufts Credentials

Once your deposit has been received, which will be requested sometime in May, you will receive notifications to log into your application portal in order to complete needed materials to prepare for orientation in August. You will also receive instructions to access your Universal Tufts Login Name (UTLN) and email. Closer to orientation, you will be enrolled in a Canvas course called, “Tufts DPT-Atlanta Student Hub.” The Canvas course is a one-stop shop to find information required for onboarding, general program information and helpful Tufts resources. 

Enrollment Steps

Plan for Orientation

Orientation for the Tufts DPT Class of 2029 will be held in two parts, first, virtually, on August 23-24, and then, in person, August 26-27. Please plan to use August 25 as a travel day.

Obtaining Your Tufts ID Card

You should use the Tufts ID website to upload an ID photo upon matriculation. Please submit your photo by Wednesday August 11, so that we will have your ID ready and available for you when you check in for orientation.

ID Photo Information: Tufts University allows students to upload their own photos for ID Cards via a dedicated Picasso II upload site. Please upload your photo according to the specifications found on the Tufts University Photo Upload Site. We will also be using this photo to create a class composite for student and faculty reference.

ID Name Information: 

Building access to Ponce City Market Atlanta DPT will be made available to students through a phone application. Further information will be provided during orientation. 

Paying Your Tuition Bill

Tufts University issues all bills for tuition through our online system, eBill. You will be contacted via email by the Health Sciences Bursar’s Office once your eBill account has been activated and your bill has been posted. Tuition bills are likely to be posted by mid-August.

In order to access and reconcile your bill, you will need to have activated your Tufts credentials and have access to your Tufts email and UTLN.

Accessibility Support Services

If you have documented learning or physical disabilities and would like to request accommodations for your classes, you will need to submit the  Accommodation Request Form to the Office of Graduate Studies. To increase the likelihood that approved accommodations are in place at the beginning of the semester, please complete the Accommodation Request Form as soon as you receive your Tufts credentials.

Immunization Requirements

All students are required by Tufts University to submit immunization and testing documentation prior to matriculation.  The Student Advisory and Health Administration (SAHA) office will send an Immunization Packet, via email, with information regarding the requirements, immunization deadlines, and instructions on how to enter immunization and testing dates and upload supporting documentation to the student health portal (Medicat). Student Health Insurance

Tufts University requires all matriculated students to participate in a health insurance plan the entire time they are active at the university.You are required to enroll in the student insurance plan offered by Tufts University or waive coverage with an outside insurance plan as long as it meets or exceeds the minimum wavier criteria. 

Once admitted, the SAHA office will send an email with information regarding enrolling in the university health insurance plan or waiving this coverage. Information is available on the SAHA website. All students are charged for the University’s health insurance plan. Once a waiver is submitted and approved the charge will be credited to their account. Questions about health insurance can be directed to saha-admin@tufts.edu or call 617-636-2701.

Basic Life Support Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory for all Tufts DPT-Atlanta students. All students will certify (or re-certify) during orientation. The cost is $75 and will be the responsibility of the student. No action is needed at this time.
