Jainith Patel, M27, Recognized with 2026 ACTS Outstanding Trainee: Predoctoral Scholar Award
Tufts MD student and Clinical & Translational Science trainee honored for advancing research that informs patient care.
The Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS), a non-profit membership organization representing translational scientists across leading academic medical centers, honored its 2026 award recipients at Translational Science 2026.
Tufts University is proud to announce that Jainith Patel, M27, a Tufts University School of Medicine MD student and trainee in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences’ Clinical & Translational Science Certificate Program, has been named a recipient of the 2026 ACTS Outstanding Trainee: Predoctoral Scholar Award.
Patel was recently featured in a Tufts student profile highlighting his work in translational research and his commitment to advancing patient-centered care through rigorous study design and interdisciplinary collaboration. His experience reflects the mission of the Clinical & Translational Science Certificate Program, which prepares trainees to translate scientific discoveries into meaningful clinical impact.
In addition, ACTS has released a video spotlight featuring Patel, where he discusses his research journey, the importance of translational science training, and the role of mentorship in shaping his development as a future clinician-investigator.
The ACTS Outstanding Trainee: Predoctoral Scholar Award recognizes exceptional achievement in translational research at the predoctoral level, with an emphasis on scientific innovation and future impact. Patel’s recognition underscores both his individual contributions and the strength of Tufts’ training environment for clinician-investigators.
ACTS presents its annual Translational Science Awards to recognize investigators for their outstanding contributions to clinical research and translational science. Nominees are selected by peers across academia, industry, and government.
“The ACTS awards recognize talented investigators who translate their findings from the bench to bedside and ultimately into the community,” said ACTS President Allan R. Brasier, MD. “These award winners and their work represent the values and mission of ACTS for innovation, team science, and community involvement. We are pleased to celebrate their achievements at Translational Science 2026.”
Patel’s recognition highlights the impact of early-career training in translational science and reinforces the importance of programs that equip future physicians and researchers with the skills to drive meaningful improvements in patient care.
