Tufts DPT Collaborates with Saint Anselm College
Tufts University School of Medicine and Saint Anselm College are teaming up on a new pathway for future physical therapists.
Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) has expanded its academic collaboration with Saint Anselm College to offer a direct pathway for students and alumni to earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.
The TUSM–Saint Anselm College Doctor of Physical Therapy Partnership Program is a seven-semester hybrid program that blends online coursework, in-person clinical skills labs, and hands-on clinical education. This flexible and immersive model is designed to prepare the next generation of physical therapists to meet the evolving needs of health care.
“This is a fantastic option for our students that provides both a direct path to the Tufts program, but also the resources of the admissions team at TUSM,” said Eric Hegedus, Professor and Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at TUSM.
Launching this fall, the partnership builds on the institutions’ successful Master of Public Health collaboration—making the DPT program the second graduate-level opportunity developed between TUSM and Saint Anselm.
Applicants accepted into the DPT Partnership Program can study at one of Tufts’ three campus locations in Boston, Phoenix, or Seattle. Each location has 10 available spots reserved for Saint Anselm students and alumni. Throughout the program, DPT students will study with engaged faculty in an enriching environment in a variety of learning formats, from hybrid classroom learning and eight on-site clinical labs to 31 weeks of clinical education experiences.
“We are thrilled that our partnership with Tufts University School of Medicine now extends to two programs…offering a pathway to graduate studies for nursing, community and public health, and health sciences undergraduates at the Jean School,” said Diane Uzarski, DNP, MPH, RN, founding dean and professor of practice at Saint Anselm’s Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Program Highlights:
- Streamlined application process with no application fee or GRE requirement for qualified applicants
- Reserved spots for Saint Anselm students and alumni at Tufts’ Boston, Phoenix, and Seattle campuses (10 per location)
- Eight on-site clinical skills labs
- Thirty-one weeks of clinical placements
- Curriculum rooted in evidence-based practice, leadership preparation, and diverse networking opportunities
