Research/Areas of Interest
Dr. Burgess's research explores how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, influence knowledge acquisition, critical thinking, reasoning, and learner engagement in health professions education. She examines how AI-mediated learning environments affect cognitive processes and educational outcomes, and develops evidence-based frameworks for responsibly integrating AI into health professions curricula. More broadly, her scholarship examines how digital technologies shape learning and cognitive development across the educational continuum, from early learners through professional training.
