Research/Areas of Interest
The goal of my laboratory is to develop genetic therapies for retinal diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)- two of the most common causes of blindness. In order to investigate the correction of in vivo models of these diseases, we also develop viral and non viral gene transfer systems for the retina and the central nervous system. Our medium to long-term goal is to utilize these novel technologies and approaches in gene therapy clinical trials at Tufts University School of Medicine.
