Dr. Almonroeder's initial scholarly interests focused on clinical biomechanics and motor control as they relate to injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement among physically active populations, including runners, athletes, and tactical personnel. In recent years, his scholarship has expanded to physical therapy education, with an emphasis on student academic success, sense of belonging, professional development, and strategies to enhance graduate outcomes.
Biography
Thomas "Gus" Almonroeder, PT, DPT, PhD, serves as the director of graduate outcomes for the Tufts DPT-Boston program. He earned his PT degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Almonroeder has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents his work at national and international conferences. His scholarship has focused on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement among various athlete populations. More recently, his work has centered on enhancing student learning, professional development, and physical therapist licensure examination outcomes. Almonroeder serves as a program reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education and is an editorial board member for the Journal of Physical Therapy Education.
