Research/Areas of Interest
The research in my laboratory includes mechanistic studies of serine proteases, and drug design and discovery. We also conduct structural studies on a variety of topics, often in collaboration with other faculty. Our serine protease studies use NMR and mutagenesis to identify and evaluate key hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions within serine protease active sites. The drug discovery efforts focus on the development of a platform technology for discovering new inhibitors of serine protease and the rationale design of "smarter" synthetic agents for modulating disease processes.
