Mentoring and Outreach Subcommittee

Mission

Our subcommittee focuses on supporting Tufts Pathway Programs directed at increasing diversity in the biomedical sciences by providing mentoring programs for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate trainees in our department.

Activities

This past summer, we spearheaded a program called Summer@Micro, where we provided summer interns in the Building Diversity in the Biomedical Sciences program with structured mentorship and career development opportunities.

Some of our other activities are highlighted below.

Peer Mentoring

We pair a postdoctoral scholar or graduate student mentor with interns to create a safe space for discussing issues and experiences.

We promote use of myIDP,  sponsor career panels, and provide guidance on graduate school applications.

Social Events

We sponsor social events, lunches and outings to help our trainees feel at home in our department.
