Office of Faculty Affairs
The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) at Tufts University School of Medicine supports the appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes for over 5,000 faculty members. Our distinguished faculty includes clinicians, scientists, researchers, educators, and public health scholars and practitioners in the five basic science departments and the 20 clinical departments across our affiliated teaching hospitals and practice sites. Additionally, the OFA manages annual appointments for over 1,200 residents and fellows based at Tufts-affiliated hospitals and graduate medical education programs, and provides credentialing verification for current and former faculty and trainees.
The OFA serves as a central resource for information about faculty, and as a resource and referral source for faculty appointment, promotion, tenure and leave of absence policies and procedures. The OFA also handles the appointment process for academic leadership positions such as new department chairs, deans, endowed professorships, and emeritus faculty.
The OFA works with department chairs and the Basic Science Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee (BSFAPT) and the Clinical Promotion and Appointment Committee (CLINPAC) on faculty appointments and promotions. Additionally, the OFA disseminates information about resources and opportunities to support the professional development of faculty members at Tufts University School of Medicine.
We are committed to supporting and advancing the academic careers of our faculty and welcome your questions and feedback at any time!
