Research/Areas of Interest:

My research aims to define the molecular machinery that is required for cell division in the pathogen Clostridioides difficile. As an endospore-forming bacterium, C. difficile undergoes two flavors of cell division – medial division, which is essential for normal growth, and asymmetric division, which is essential for sporulation. By understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern cell division during these two distinct lifestyles of C. difficile, I hope to identify novel therapeutic targets to combat this dangerous pathogen.
