Research/Areas of Interest
My research focuses on astrocyte-neuron interactions and how astrocytic functions (glutamate clearance and K+ buffering) can modulate synaptic and somatic neuronal function. We have found novel neuronal control of astrocytic glutamate clearance kinetics with synapse specificity and fast kinetics. To investigate these questions, we use a combination of astrocyte and neuronal electrophysiology and cutting edge live imaging of glutamate, Ca2+, voltage, and other bio-sensors.
