Research/Areas of Interest
The Massari lab focuses on three interrelated and convergent areas crucial for preclinical vaccine development: innate and adaptive immunity, bacterial pathogenesis, and host responses. By delving into the mechanisms through which bacteria and their components induce, modify, and evade host cell responses resulting in immunity and inflammation, we aim to design and enhance both new and existing vaccines against human and veterinary bacterial pathogens. Current ongoing projects focus on Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis infection prevention.
