My work uses a systems and circuit level approach to understand the neurobiological basis of fear and anxiety-related disorders. I am investigating the role of the central amygdala in learning about threat and how factors such as biological sex and previous environmental challenges alters the engagement of stress networks. The overarching goal of my works is to understand how biology and environment interact to shape neural adaptations that give rise to both functional and dysfunctional outcomes
