Center for Neuroscience Research

The Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research (CNR) was established in 2003 with funding from the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and generous support from Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Medical Center.

The primary goals of the CNR are to support neuroscience research efforts and to promote collaborative interactions among neuroscientists at Tufts University and its affiliated hospitals. The CNR is located within the Tufts University School of Medicine Department of Neuroscience; it provides core research services to Tufts neuroscientists and other investigators. CNR-supported core facilities offer services for biological imaging, nucleic acid quantification, real-time PCR (RT-PCR) and rodent behavioral testing. The operation of CNR core facilities is greatly aided by support from Tufts University School of Medicine.

New CNR users should complete this form. For additional questions or inquiries, please contact Alison Hochler.

Research Cores

  • The Genomics Core provides basic gene expression services for Tufts neuroscientists and other investigators. We provide the following instruments in Stearns 207 for nucleic acid and real-time PCR analyses.
  • The Circuits and Behavior Core aims to provide equipment, facilities, consultation, and technical expertise for carrying out behavioral experiments.
  • The CNR supports the Tufts Imaging Facility (TIF), and the fluorescence microscopy facilities within the Tufts Department of Neuroscience. We provide neuroscientists and other investigators with imaging services.
