The 2024 Earle P. Charlton Poster Competition
Research competition, celebrating the dedication and excellence of Tufts University's graduate students.
On November 18, 2024, Tufts University School of Medicine hosted the 2024 Earle P. Charlton Poster Competition. This event showcased an impressive array of research work and served as a platform for students from diverse disciplines to exchange ideas with the Tufts scientific community, all the while fine-tuning their presentation skills.
This year, the competition was open to all Medical School, Dental School, GSBS, and Veterinary School students pursuing MS, MPH, DPT, MD, PhD, DMD, and DVM degrees. To qualify, participants were required to present research that was exclusively their own and conducted during their graduate enrollment at Tufts University.
The competition was divided into three categories: GSBS Junior, GSBS Senior, and Professional. The GSBS Junior category featured PhD students in their first to third years, MD/PhD students in their first two years, and MS students. The GSBS Senior category included PhD students in their fourth year and beyond, MD/PhD students in their third year and beyond, and CTS PhD students. The Professional category was open to all MD, DMD, DVM, and other graduate students, as well as MD/PhD students in their first two years at TUSM.
Participants submitted 300-word abstracts, which were evaluated based on the justification of research objectives, clarity of methods, readiness of results, and level of engagement. Selected participants then presented their research through posters to a discerning panel of judges at the poster competition. The judging criteria were comprehensive, assessing research design, data analysis, significance of the work, degree of involvement, and the quality of the poster presentation.
The 2024 Earle P. Charlton Poster Competition was not just an event; it was a celebration of the relentless pursuit of knowledge and the remarkable achievements of Tufts University's graduate students. It highlighted the importance of research in advancing science and medicine, and it inspired all who attended to strive for excellence in their academic endeavors. Join us in congratulating this year's winners!
