Laura Baecher-Lind, MD, MPH, has been appointed to serve as the next Dean for Educational Affairs for Tufts University School of Medicine.
Laura Baecher-Lind, MD, MPH, has been appointed to serve as the next Dean for Educational Affairs for Tufts University School of Medicine. While her official start date is January 1, Dr. Baecher-Lind will immediately begin working with Dean Scott Epstein, MD, and the Office of Educational Affairs team to transition into this key leadership role.
Dr. Baecher-Lind’s experience at TUSM makes her an ideal leader to oversee our undergraduate medical education needs. She successfully led the ObGyn Clerkship for nine years and co-directed the Reproductive Course for six academic years. In addition to her participation on the TUSM MD Curriculum Committee, the Educational Strategic Planning Committees, and the 2013 and 2021 LCME Self-Study Task Forces, she has a strong track record of working productively and positively with faculty across disciplines including Urology and Pathology. She played a key role in the integration of the Reproductive course in 2020 with the basic science faculty from Histology, Physiology, and Pharmacology. Additionally, she is an effective clinical and classroom educator and has been recognized with TUSM’s Excellence in Teaching awards annually since 2011 and with Outstanding Lecturer awards annually since 2013.
At the national level, Dr. Baecher-Lind is a well-regarded and effective educational leader. She was elected to the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology (APGO) Board of Directors where she was selected to serve on task forces on pelvic exams under anesthesia and postpartum depression education. More recently, she was selected to participate on the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee (UMEC) of APGO, through which she co-directed the annual APGO Faculty Development Seminar, created educational tools used by students and medical educators nationwide, and gave faculty development sessions as part of the Clerkship Directors School program. She was also selected to serve on the APGO Diversity and Inclusion Educational Guidelines Taskforce and on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Collective Action Addressing Racism Education Working Group.
