MPH Concentrations

Concentrations allow students deeper knowledge in particular content areas as they develop their public health skills in the core MPH program. There are eight concentrations available; students may select a concentration that works for the MPH option they are pursing.

Students pursing an MPH while enrolled in the JD, PA, MD, or DVM dual degree program have concentration requirements designed to integrate their two areas of study. Students in the accelerated MPH choose either Epidemiology-Biostatistics or Health Services Management and Policy as a concentration.

Students with a graduate degree or significant professional experience in health-related fields may petition to pursue an individualized study in lieu of a concentration. Developing core knowledge in public health is the primary goal, and the student must work closely with a faculty adviser to design a curriculum that identifies a minimum of four specific competencies demonstrated through a cohesive set of courses outside of the program competencies.
