Match Day Profile: Margot Valme, M22
Margot Valme reflects back on her medical school journey and shares where she's headed
Tell us about yourself
My name is Margot Valme and I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica. I like to crochet in my spare time, I have an Instagram page @MargotMaker and my sister designed my logo. I even started an Etsy store Margot Maker!
Where did you match?
George Washington University Hospital Internal Medicine residency, Washington DC
How do you plan to spend your time between now and the start of your residency?
Going home to Jamaica to spend time with my mother, sister, my three shih tzus and some childhood friends. Traveling to Italy with a classmate, Ashley Haynes and a long time friend from high school.
What is something you wish you knew at the start of your medicine journey?
Always stay true to yourself, you might feel like you have to act like someone else in order to succeed, however your people will appreciate you for who you really are.
What will you miss most about being at Tufts and living in Boston?
Being so close to all the friends I have made in the past 9 years that are like family to me now. Going to school in Chinatown where the food is always amazing.
What are you looking forward to most in your new city/place of residency?
Learning how to live in a bigger city, the diversity of the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area, and of course the food scene in Washington DC --it’s amazing!
