Learn more about what you can expect from the Tufts University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program. Hear some insights from a current PA student, Mariana Osello, PA22

Why did you choose the Tufts PA program?

"I chose the Tufts PA program because I felt that the staff saw me not only as a student, but as a person. During my interview, they asked a wide range of questions that went beyond career goals to cover things like my approach to medicine and my personal values. I even got to talk about why I picked up the ukulele! From the beginning, I felt that the Tufts faculty genuinely wanted to get to know me on a more personal level. Our program director, Beth Buyea, assured us that she and the rest of the faculty and staff would help get us through the next two years. With my didactic year behind me, I can say that they’ve definitely kept that promise!"

What was the biggest surprise about your Tufts experience?

"As a cohort, we quickly found ourselves having to juggle our studies with supporting a changing world. I was amazed by how beautifully my class came together and leaned on each other during challenging times. I was proud of the program for learning and growing with us, and for being receptive to our feedback. Although it is a difficult time in the world, I feel that pulling through it has made the program even better than it already was, and that my classmates and I have become better future healthcare providers—and all-around people—because of it."

What have you loved most about your time at Tufts?

"Getting to know my truly amazing classmates! They are some of the brightest, most caring, and most motivated people I have ever met, and I am honored to be a part of the group. Tufts picks students with good hearts and the determination to have a bright future in healthcare."

What should prospective students know about the PA program at Tufts?

"Incoming students should know that they WILL get through the program and become successful PAs - their educators, faculty, and fellow classmates will help them get there. After accepting my position in the class of 2022, I had no doubts about my ability to succeed in the program, because I knew that I had the support of a wonderful group from the very first day."
