Biography

Dr. Brandon Ness is an Associate Professor and serves as the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Assessment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (Boston, MA) at Tufts University. From his initial hire in August 2020, Dr. Ness has led the development of several physical therapy courses including Clinical Prevention & Population Health I and II, Diagnostic Imaging, and Therapeutic Interventions. Dr. Ness continues to publish in sports physical therapy and education.

Previously, Dr. Ness served as core faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of South Dakota for over five years. Dr. Ness earned a B.A. in Health Fitness from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2008, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in 2011, and a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of South Dakota in 2019. Dr. Ness completed a one-year residency training in the specialty area of sports physical therapy at Gundersen Medical Foundation in La Crosse, WI in 2014. Dr. Ness received his board-certification in sports physical therapy in 2015. Dr. Ness served as a post-professional program director for a residency program in sports physical therapy while obtaining successful ABPTRFE accreditation. Ness has co-authored 29 publications, 21 professional presentations delivered at national/international conferences and received $24,000 in grant funding. He previously served as an Emergency Medical Response course instructor, which was primarily for those intending to pursue sports residency training or sit for the sports specialty board examination. Dr. Ness currently serves as a reviewer for several national peer-reviewed physical therapy journals. Dr. Ness' previous clinical practice primarily included college student and student-athlete populations, and he continues to practice clinically in Minnesota.
