Biography

Dr. Kumar earned his DVM degree and worked on zoonotic diseases (e.g., bovine tuberculosis, rabies) in India. He also completed an MS in anatomy. He taught at the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria for two years. He earned an MS in physiology from Kansas State University (KSU) and a Ph.D. in Neuroendocrinology from the University of Florida (UF). He published several papers on neuropeptide physiology, several book chapters, two textbooks on carnivore anatomy, and one on equine anatomy. He is working on a ruminant anatomy textbook covering cattle, sheep, goats, and camelids. He taught histology, embryology, anatomy, and parts of physiology to DVM students in India, Nigeria, at KSU, UF, and Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine for a few decades, a locum at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, St. Kitts and joined Tufts Medical School in 2018 to teach anatomy to DMD, MD, and PA students. Dr. Kumar brings a unique perspective to teaching clinical anatomy to MD and DMD students by bringing comparative anatomy, evolutionary biology, and pathophysiology as a Veterinarian.
