Biochemistry Takes Center Stage in Research Spotlight
Christina McGuire and Mike Forgac focus on the role of V-ATPase in signaling during nutrient starvation.
Christina McGuire, a fifth year PhD student in the Biochemistry Program and her advisor, Michael Forgac, PhD have been studying signaling involving V-ATPase and its role in autophagy and glucose starvation.
Some of her recent work is described in the following publication:
McGuire CM, Forgac M. 2018. Glucose starvation increases V-ATPase assembly and activity in mammalian cells through AMP kinase and phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase/Akt signaling. J Biol. Chem. Epub ahead of print. Abstract
